Bullying Under The Spotlight16 July 2004Australia’s top 100 company’s attitudes to bullying in the workplace will come under the microscope at a special conference set down for the Sydney Opera House in September. The conference will examine the effects of bullying in the workplace as well as focusing on wider anti-bullying campaigns amongst Police, meatworkers and at the Opera House itself. The Sydney Opera House has been chosen as a venue for the conference because of its outstanding policy on combating workplace bullying. A campaign kit to help tackle the problem of bullying will be launched at the conference. The kit will include a 'Workplace Anti-Bullying Charter', posters and leaflets, checklists for workplaces and incident reporting forms. "Bullying is now being recognised as the number one occupational health and safety issues in the modern workplace," says NSW Labor Council OH&S Officer Mary Yaager. "This conference is a timely opportunity for NSW workplaces to address this important issue." The conference, which is bringing together workers representatives and experts on bullying and high profile speakers, will be held on the 8th of September. People interested in attending the conference can contact the NSW Labor Council on (02) 9264 1691.
