Chubb Workmates Back Bullied Whistleblower

Workmates of a worker who blew the whistle on bullying at security firm Chubb have backed his claims, as evidence comes to light that even Chubb’s insurer believes he is in the right.

John McPhilbin revealed to Workers Online last week claims of systematic bullying and harassment at the security company.

"Numerous copies of the story are now floating around Chubb," says McPhilbin. "'It's about time someone took a stand', is apparently the most common response."

A report by Chubb's insurance consultants Lee, Kelly & Associates Pty Ltd says that McPhilbin "would present as an excellent witness in his own cause".

A former workmate of McPhilbin's, Robert Moore, who worked his way up from being a guard to being a Business Manager for Guarding Services was sent back to being a guard in a move he claims was due to his "association with John McPhilbin".

"As a result of the treatment I became highly agitated, had high blood pressure, was physically shaking, I was unable to sleep, had difficulty in concentration and ability to drive."

Moore's health problems have been diagnosed by a doctor as being "totally work related".

McPhilbin has urged other victims of bullying to not suffer in since; to speak out and be a part of the campaign the NSW Labor Council's has flagged for respect and dignity in the workplace.

The conference, which is bringing together workers representatives and experts on bullying and high profile speakers, will be held on the 8th of September at the Sydney Opera House.
