Govt Safety Summit Response02 December 2002The NSW Government’s official response to the 132 recommendations made at the Bathurst Safety Summit is now available from this website. Attendees at the June summit were split into industry working groups, where they made recommendations specific to each major sector. Sectors included: community services; transport, construction; education; forestry; manufacturing; retail and wholesale; rural; health; and hospitality. There was also a safe design working group. The Government says it has approved most of the recommendations and has identified five areas of focus, which form the framework for the Government's strategies to achieve improved workplace safety standards. These include: understanding hazards and risks; strengthening workplace safety accountability; promoting new solutions; making communities safer; and designing safer workplaces.
