Question

Do I need to cooperate with the insurer?

Answer

Yes, if you fail to comply with reasonable requests, the insurance company may or may not suspend your payment, therefore, it is recommended that you cooperate with the reasonable requests by the insurance company.

If you believe that the requests are unreasonable, you can contact your union for advice.

If you attend a medical examination arranged by the insurer or the employer, then they need to pay you for reasonable medical expenses associated with the request. For example if you had to travel from Orange to Sydney, then they would be liable for petrol money or airfares and accommodation.
