Question

How do I make a claim for workers compensation for my injury?

Answer

First of all you should see a doctor, and if you require time off work, ask the doctor to provide you with a WorkCover medical certificate.

If time off work is not required, then you may just want to be reimbursed for any medication, or expenses that you have purchased in relation to your injury.

You need to complete the claim form and attach the doctor's certificate and/or any receipts, chemist's receipts, etc, to the claim form and pass to your employer.

It is recommended that you keep a photocopy of the claim form and all receipts, as well as your medical certificate.
