Question

Does the employer have to pay compensation immediately to injured workers?

Answer

The employer should pay an injured employee out of their sick leave or their annual leave, until such time as the insurance company reimburses the employer. However, as soon as the employer receives the cheque from the insurance company, or payment from the insurance company, they should forward that payment on as soon as possible to the injured worker, and we recommend within three (3) days of receipt.
