Delegates Bullying Fact Sheets - Bullying Factsheet 09 - Checklist

Sometimes, organisational factors can contribute to an atmosphere that leads to bullying behaviour. The checklist provides some pointers – you can add more that may be relevant to your organisation.

1. Is there a "Workplace Bullying" policy developed in consultation with employees? YES / NO

2. Are job descriptions clearly defined? YES / NO

3. Are grievance procedures in place? YES / NO

4. Are supervisors and managers aware of workplace bullying? YES / NO

5. Do they do anything to stop it? YES / NO

6. Has awareness been raised about bullying and harassment in your workplace? YES / NO

7. Are workers encouraged to speak up about health and safety concerns? YES / NO

8. Do workers understand that workplace bullying is an occupational hazard? YES / NO

9. Are work rosters fairly distributed? YES / NO

If you have answered NO to any of the questions 1-9 above, this may indicate there is a problem in your workplace and you should contact your union delegate or OHS representative.

1. Is the organisation undergoing restructuring, redundancy? YES / NO

2. Are there competitive work teams in the organisation? YES / NO

3. Is work over monitored? YES / NO

4. Are long hours of work routinely expected? YES / NO

5. Do managers expect workers to comply with impossible targets or time frames? YES / NO

6. Are workers shouted at or picked on? YES / NO

7. Are there high levels of sick leave? YES / NO

8. Are there high levels of absenteeism? YES / NO

If you answered YES to any of the questions 1-8 above, this may indicate there is a problem in your workplace and you should contact your union delegate or OHS representative.
